✨ Travel Day Home | Indirect Tampa to Heathrow | The Long Journey Back ✨
Before we even get into today’s travel home day, we just want to say a huge thank you 💙. To everyone who’s liked, commented, followed along with our blogs, and especially to those we met in the parks — you genuinely made this trip feel extra special. And to all our subscribers, thank you for supporting us as a family. It really does mean more than we can put into words.
Today was all about getting ourselves (and our bags!) home after an incredible three weeks in Orlando. We woke up just after 8am and headed straight to First Watch for breakfast — the perfect start and exactly what we needed before a long day of travelling ahead.
Back at the villa, it was time for the dreaded packing 🧳. As always, after three weeks, the suitcases somehow felt smaller than when we arrived. Perry ended up making a last-minute dash to Marshall’s to pick up an extra hand-luggage case — $65 later and lesson learned… three suitcases is never enough!
By 12:30pm we were all packed up and ready to say goodbye to our villa at Formosa Gardens. We absolutely loved staying here — so close to Disney, just off the 192, and surrounded by shops and restaurants. It really couldn’t have been more convenient for us.
The drive over to Tampa Airport took around 1 hour 20 minutes, including a quick fuel stop ($45 for a full tank). We returned the car to Budget (who were brilliant again) and headed inside to drop our bags and grab a quick snack.
Security was a dream — no queues and nothing to take out of our bags 🙌. We found a table by the runway and had a little chill watching planes take off… until panic hit. Perry suddenly realised his bag was missing — the one with the MacBook Pro, two iPads, Switch 2, Osmo camera, and ALL our vlog footage from the last 21 days 😱. Cue frantic moments… but thankfully it had been left at security and was waiting for us when we rushed back. Massive sigh of relief!
Once our heart rates returned to normal, we boarded our Delta flight from Tampa to Boston. The flight time was 2 hours 40 minutes and thankfully everything went smoothly.
At Boston, we jumped on the shuttle to Terminal E and grabbed some food before the long haul. Prices were definitely eye-watering — $65 for three small pizzas and three drinks — but needs must!
Then it was time for the final leg home with Virgin Atlantic to Heathrow ✈️. We boarded and pushed back on time… only to be told a minor fault had been detected. After a reset attempt and some waiting, we were towed back to the gate so engineers could take a look — not quite the send-off we’d hoped for.
Thankfully, about an hour later the issue was resolved and we were back on our way. Despite the delay, the flight itself was really good, just a little bumpy in places, and we only landed around 40 minutes later than planned.
We touched down at Heathrow just after 11am, passport control was quick, and we were in the car within 40 minutes — a definite win! Before heading home, we made a quick stop at McDonald’s 🍔. Eating before getting back always helps us with jet lag and gave us that final boost we needed.
Just after 2pm, we finally pulled up at home 🏡. And as always, the absolute best part of coming back was seeing our two dogs again 🐾 — they were so excited and happy to see us, and that moment made the entire long journey home completely worth it.
Thanks so much for watching, for supporting us, and for being part of our journey 💙
